Increase Cache for Customized Folders (Windows XP) Category: Home > Security > Start Menu and Taskbar > Documents and Folders
Windows XP normally remembers the customized settings of a maximum of 400 folders. This tweak allows you to increase the number of folders that can be individually customized. Open your registry and find the key below. Create a new DWORD value called "BagMRU Size" and set it to the number of folders that Windows should save settings for (e.g. 1000). Repeat the step for the same value at [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam]. Restart Windows for the change to take effect.
Disclaimer: Modifying the registry can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. We cannot guarantee that problems resulting from modifications to the registry can be solved. Use the information provided at your own risk.
